Crypto Domain Names: What is it?

September 24, 2023No Comments4 Mins Read

Blockchains serve as transparent and decentralized ledgers of record in which no single server has complete control over the data that passes through them. These networks will probably form the backbone and foundation of tomorrow’s internet. As a result, blockchains now offer a naming service, allowing users to purchase and connect an easy-to-read address to their digital wallets. Web3 domain names are now available.

What are Crypto Domain Name Services?

Blockchain domains, like email addresses, are addresses used for transferring and receiving cryptocurrencies. They are stored on a public ledger, open to the public, and protected by a smart contract. Technically they are NFTs and can be used in the metaverse. They remain in your crypto wallet indefinitely and cannot be removed. Some domains, however, demand a renewal charge.

Blockchain domains also include other intriguing features. It converts blockchain resources—long, complex numbers and letters—into domain names with «.bitcoin,» «.crypto,» «.nft,» and «.eth» extensions. Blockchain domains can be used to point to material that is hosted on the blockchain, such as a website, or they can serve as a name registry for cryptocurrency wallet addresses.

The owner of a domain name can do whatever they want with it (just like they would with a standard NFT) because blockchain domains exist in the owner’s cryptocurrency wallet and are not controlled by a registry, registrar, hosting provider, or ICANN. There are not any administrative processes, like a UDRP or conditions of use, to handle cases of infringement.

How do Crypto domain names work?

The procedure of registering a blockchain domain name is normally straightforward, although it might be complicated depending on the blockchain. To obtain an ENS domain name, for example, you must have ether (ETH), identify a free name, then secure it through a marketplace.

Once secured, the domain must be coined, which can entail expensive gas payments. You can determine how to store the wallet keys. Blockchain domains are in high demand, and prices are rising steadily.

To make the process easier for brand owners, assistance is available to coordinate strategies across several platforms such as the metaverse, cloud gaming, NFTs, and blockchains.

Here are some of the Best Crypto Domain Name Services:

SPACE ID

SPACE ID is a worldwide name service network. It attempts to seamlessly connect humans, information, assets, and applications in the digital world.

SPACE ID is chain-agnostic, which means it is not restricted to a single blockchain. It is completely decentralized, which means it runs on peer-to-peer networks enabled by blockchain technology. It is also censorship-resistant, meaning that no central authority can regulate or censor it. The code is open source, which means that anybody can use or contribute to it.

Phemex has partnered with SPACE ID to bring our users a more seamless deposit and withdrawal experience. With the integration, users can easily withdraw spot assets from their Phemex Assets dashboard by using their customized Web3 names for domains like.bnb,.arb, and other SPACE ID-compatible extensions.

Unstoppable Domains

The creation of Unstoppable Domains aims to close the gap between Web2 and Web3. By giving consumers the option to register their own domain names on the Polygon blockchain, it achieves this goal. These domains, like DappRadar.zil or DappRadar.crypto, serve as a bridge between a complicated and lengthy cryptocurrency wallet address and a name that is simpler to remember. More users can now connect to decentralized apps and exchanges with this feature.

ENS Domains

Along with a dashboard, ENS enables users to use their own usernames, save their preferred avatars, and save their personal information to use across many services. Numerous wallets, including Rainbox, MyCrypto, Coinbase, Bitcoin.com, and others, are part of the ENS ecosystem. Additional programs include Uniswap, Showtime, Etherscan, OpenSea, Aave, and others. By using browsers like Status, Cloudflare, MetaMask Extension, Opera, and Brae, it is simple to access the established websites.

Solana

Solana offers distinctive domains with an easy registration process that simply fund transfers. It enables domain owners to create a short, simple domain name as opposed to a lengthy wallet address. Numerous wallets, including BLockto, MathWallet, Clover, Slope, Coin98, Torus, Sollet, Solflare, and Phantom are supported by Solana. A variety of domains have been created in the leaderboard, and domains can be purchased in an auction system.
