PHILADELPHIA, June 17, 2026 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) — Proscia® today introduced the fifth generation of its Concentric®1 platform, allowing pathologists to focus on high-judgment decisions and allowing scientists to quickly move from early signals to evidence-based program decisions. Proscia is trusted by diagnostic laboratories that manage 12 million patient cases annually and by 16 of the 20 largest pharmaceutical companies.
Pathology is central to the way diseases are understood and treated. Yet more than half of pathologists say they do not have enough time to handle their workload.2 as scientists face increasing pressure to deliver targeted therapies to patients, even if most investigational drugs never reach the market. Fifth Generation introduces intelligence that draws from the clinical and scientific context to support experts in drug discovery, development and assessment.
To make this intelligence available to Concentriq, a new architecture was needed. Designed in collaboration with pathologists and scientists, the fifth generation is the most significant advance Concentriq has made in five years. It brings domain-specific boundary vision, language, and multimodal models to the core of a technology stack built for enterprise-grade security, governance, and reliability.
This architecture allows the platform to unify images, metadata, and the context surrounding a case or study – from slide-level morphology and patient history to laboratory-specific protocols and translational data – giving experts and models the same complete picture. The intelligence community is using this picture to orchestrate the burdensome work of case assessment and accelerate the discovery and development of advanced biomarkers. The results are transparent, reproducible and interpretable for expert verification.
“AI is making rapid progress,” said Coleman Stavish, CTO of Proscia. “We take a first-principles approach, working backward from the way pathologists and scientists work. Years of learning from our customers have helped us understand where complexity slows them down and where judgment is displaced by the process. The fifth generation is designed to reduce that burden, so experts can focus on the decisions that matter most.”
How does Concentriq help pathologists and diagnostic laboratories?
Named 2026 Best in CLASS for Digital PathologyConcentriq enables pathologists and laboratories to make a greater impact.
Accelerate case review
Concentriq brings the power state of the microscope to an enterprise-scale digital platform, combining the tactile nature of the microscope with insight into the case and context. Intelligent navigation helps pathologists move quickly through tissue, while skin slides automatically orient themselves to maintain the mental model needed to assess findings such as depth of invasion. The context remains connected to the case, so pathologists can efficiently perform tasks such as counting lymph nodes. Image analysis is built directly into the viewer, allowing areas of interest to be refined and results updated in real time with supporting evidence available for expert verification. Reportable findings are collected in the same pass for confirmation by the pathologist. The result is more focus and speed with less manual effort.
Automate laboratory activities
Operations teams keep pace with the growing volume of cases while maintaining turnaround times. AI helps balance workloads, recommends color panels and additional investigations, and uncovers operational bottlenecks before they impact performance. Purpose-built worklists and dashboards provide visibility across all sites and scanners, allowing teams to keep cases moving without switching tools or seeking updates. Automated storage tiers tailor placement to how each site uses its data, cutting long-term storage costs by more than half3 while maintaining secure, managed access to the things that enable reassessment, future AI validation, and biopharmaceutical collaborations.
Drive business growth
Labs can expand into high-margin specialty testing and increase their role in precision medicine. Molecular workflows within Concentriq reduce manual transfers and optimize tissue at every step with digital macrodissection and native AI tumor detection, making advanced molecular testing easier to scale with high-quality data. Through the network that Concentriq enables, laboratories can collaborate with biopharmaceutical companies on areas such as real-world data programs, clinical trials and the development of companion diagnostics.
“As one of the first labs to go digital, we have seen firsthand how technology is reshaping pathology, and Concentriq has made that journey possible,” said Dr. Derek Welch, President and Chief Medical Officer of PathGroup. “The fifth generation applies AI in a whole new way, removing the invisible labor associated with case review so pathologists can spend more time on the decisions only they can make.”
How does Concentriq help scientists and biopharmaceutical companies?
Concentriq supports the precision medicine lifecycle by helping biopharmaceutical companies discover biomarkers and develop therapies, while creating a network to connect patients to the right treatments.
Accelerate biomarker discovery
Scientists can move from questions to answers more quickly. A scientist starts with a plain language question and can search tissue, clinical, and translational data as well as Proscia’s multimodal database. Agents surface relevant evidence, propose analysis pipelines that scientists can edit, version, and run, and help identify promising biomarker candidates and assess their performance. As new findings feed back into discoveries, scientists can build on previous work rather than starting from scratch.
Increase the success of clinical trials
Clinical development teams ensure diagnostic precision in the decisions that define a study. Algorithms predict biomarker expression during pre-screening so sponsors can identify eligible patients and reach enrollment goals faster. Concentriq supports biomarker-driven studies at the scale of global, multi-site trials, ensuring patients are evaluated against consistent criteria and generating reproducible, reliable results.
Expand patient access
Precision medicine teams can bring biomarkers and companion diagnostics into routine clinical use. Concentriq supports teams in building and validating assays with access to real-world multimodal data that enables biomarker validation and production of evidence needed for regulatory approval. With millions of patient cases diagnosed annually in academic laboratories, reference laboratories and healthcare laboratories, Concentriq is also helping validated diagnostics move from approval to broad clinical adoption at scale.
“We use Concentriq to perform anatomic pathology testing for drug development in multiple laboratories on three continents,” said Dr. John Cochran, Vice President and Chief Medical Officer at IQVIA Laboratories. “Proscia has a bold vision for what pathology software can be. The fifth generation applies that same thinking to AI, taking pathologists and scientists to the next level and increasing the role of pathology in precision medicine.”
When will the fifth generation Concentriq be available?
It is now available to current customers through Proscia’s early access program. Initial deployments will begin this month at select labs and biopharmaceutical companies, with broader availability to follow later this year.
Organizations that are not yet with Concentriq can request priority access by contacting Proscia.
