A history of controversy
In May 2025, some right -wing users complained that Grok was ‘woke up’ after the conservative talk points were contradicted. Later that month, reports appeared that Grok has placed ‘white genocide’ claims in non -related instructions. Xai blamed the issue to a rogue employee.
Two months later, in July – just before the launch of Grok 4 – the chatbot again criticized a wave of racist and homophobic outputs. The “Mechhitler Meltdown” led to the resignation of X CEO Linda Yaccarino.
Only a month later, Grok again made the headlines, after Xai had released the Grok Imagine videoerator with a “spicy” in advance with which users could generate nude or sexually suggestive clips.
During the launch, reporters discovered that the tools generated images of a Taylor Swift -lookalike undressing, without being asked to do this – AI’s own policy compared to pornographic deepfakes.
How much does Grok cost?
Grok is free to use via the Xai website, but full access requires a subscription. X offers various subscription layers, ranging from basic access to premium services with extensive functions.
X Premium contains three levels:
- Basis: $ 3 per month or $ 32 per year. Contains post-processing, longer messages and bookmarks.
- Premium: $ 8 per month or $ 84 a year. Adds a blue check mark (after assessment), fewer advertisements and aids for generating income.
- Premium+: $ 40 per month or $ 395 per year. Removes advertisements, stimulates the visibility of the answer and adds tools such as radar search and articles.
The future of grok
The rapid evolution of Grok emphasizes Musk’s urge to define the AI room again and to adopt the Dominance of OpenAi. However, the incoming criticism of his tone, accuracy and controversies such as the “Mechhitler” incident could still derail the ambitions of Grok, which limits the attraction to regular consumers.
