Trader Secretary Van Howard Lutnick said that the US is embracing Bitcoin (BTC) companies, which indicates a sharp policy shift of the more opponent of the BIDEN administration.
In one Recent interview With Bitcoin Magazine in the White House, Lutnick imposed a vision on with regulatory clarity, energy autonomy for miners and official recognition of Bitcoin in national economic reporting.
He pointed to new efforts such as the investment accelerator of the Ministry of Trade and again confirmed that Bitcoin would be dealt with as a merchandise, not a currency, under the government of President Donald Trump.
Lutnick said:
“Bitcoin is a merchandise and it must be treated as a merchandise. It must be treated as oil. It must be treated as gold. It is not a currency.”
He added that he could explore that the Bureau or Economic Affairs Bitcoin is included in national economic accounts in the same way as the gold treats, and notes that the Bea is already using gold in calculating GDP and international trading statistics.
Investment accelerator
The new investment accelerator of the Ministry of Commerce, launched on 31 March, is a center of the strategy of the administration. The program is designed to help companies navigate regulations and permits, and Lutnick said that Bitcoin mining companies are among the intended beneficiaries.
He noted that miners could build their own power plants near gas fields, reducing the dependence on the schedule and reduced energy costs. He further emphasized that giving more control over their energy sources would strengthen the domestic mining industry.
He added:
“You will see that the next generation of miners in America will be able to control their destination and to control the power costs, [which]I think, goes to Bitcoin mining in the Turbolarge in America. “
Bitcoin belongs in the US
Lutnick underlined that the approach of the Trump administration is in stark contrast to that of its predecessor, and that Bitcoin companies must have faith in building their future in America.
He explained:
“America is the most extraordinary business place on earth.”
Lutnick added that he wants the Bitcoin industry to “find out how to win in America,” and promises that the administration would support the success of industry in the long term. He insisted that America’s embrace of Bitcoin is irreversible.
According to Lutnick:
“You have never seen the United States of America embrace anything and turn their backs later. That never happened.”
His comments come when the Trump administration insists to make the US a dominant hub for Bitcoin innovation and infrastructure, and welcome a new era for digital assets on American soil.
