An officially licensed “The Walking Dead” role play game based on the popular TV program will be closed after July 31, according to Blockchain Game Publisher Gala Games.
The Walking Dead: Empires, a multiplayer survival game built around Ethereum NFTs, was playable in Open Beta last year after being announced for the first time at the end of 2021.
“After a careful consideration, we made the difficult decision to sun sons The Walking Dead: Empires, with the last playable date set for July 31, 2025,” Gala Games wrote in a statement this week.
The game available for Playtests, challenged the game players to make weapons, build base and fight for survival to protect against the ‘walkers’ or zombies. To improve experience, users can buy NFTs Supplies, WeaponsOr deeds to land to build a base.
In contrast to other in-game items that eventually disappear from the inventory of a player after so many applications, the NFT-based items in The Walking Dead: Empires were indestructible.
Although the prices are cratered from their NFT bull market days, some in-game assets achieved large price tags a few years ago. For example, Legendary Claims of Land Dakact are sold For no less than $ 67,000 in 2021, by data from the OpenSea Marketplace.
In 2023, because the game was available for Playtest, owners still asked for top dollars, such as $ 30,000 for an NFT-based gun and at least $ 1,000 for other items at a lower level.
But now all those NFTs are essentially made useless as the last play date of the game approaches. As compensation, Gala will distribute other NFTs from his game ecosystem to users, aimed at offering “equal functionality” to their existing The Walking Dead: Empires NFT Holdings.
“While the journey of the game is coming to an end, we are committed to ensuring that these NFTs continue to be useful,” is the post. “As part of the sunset process, we will distribute new NFTs of equal functionality in other Gala Games products to TWD: E NFT holders.”
Some did not take over the message.
“The Walking Dead: Empires officially carpets on Gala,” said Crypto Gaming personality Jesus Martinez on X (previously known as Twitter). “People paid more than $ 10k+ for countries and now get $ 2 mysterious boxes.”
All holders of The Walking Dead: Empires NFTS, from a snapshot of April 29, receive their mystery box with items, depending on the type and rarity of their walking dead NFTs.
