The years of legal drama with basketball star Shaquille O’Neal and his ties with the now male crypto exchange FTX finally ends.
According to a recent CNBC reportShaquille O’Neal has agreed to pay $ 1.8 million to arrange the Class Action right case that accused him of misleading investors by ftx.
The lawsuit, originally submitted in November, stemes from his involvement in the campaign “FTX: I am All In”, where he was called “Shaqtoshi”. He was formally served in 2023 outside his residence in Atlanta, after several attempts to reach him.
O Since then, the legal battle has been dragging on for years, in which O’Neal claimed that he was only a paid spokesperson and had no deeper involvement in the activities of FTX.
If approved by the court, the settlement of $ 1.8 million goes to investor compensation. Moreover, the O’Neal will free up all future liability related to FTX and forbids him to request reimbursement of the bankruptcy of the stock market.
In the meantime, FTX is still paying back on the thousands of customers and investors affected by the collapse of 2022.
FTX Taperer Payone to repay creditors
On June 10, 2025, the bankrupt exhibition unveiled a new partnership with Payment platform Payoneer to process creditors. With the partnership, Payoneer will join existing facilitators, including Bitgo and Kraken, to help funds distribute among the funds owed.
FTX processed its first repayment round in February, a total of $ 1.2 billion for claimants with losses under $ 50,000. In May the stock market followed the announcement of a second round payment schedule, aimed at distributing an extra $ 5 billion in more creditors.
The fall of FTX remains one of the largest financial implosions in the crypto history, caused by fraud, business misconduct and abuse of customer funds by managers. The founder, Sam Bankman-Fried (SBF), is currently a 25-year prison sentence for his role in the crash.
