The amount of Bitcoin (BTC) of public companies reached 592.112 BTC in 2024, according to For treasuries data to Bitcoin.
Bitwise head of research Ryan Rasmussen marked That the number is twice as much bitcoin as institutions that have been collected together in the last five years.
History of accumulation
On January 1, 2024, the amount of Bitcoin that is held by listed companies was 272,777 BTC.
Two important accumulation jumps were registered in 2020 and 2021. During the first year of the COVID Pandemie, institutions came close to a Stash of 100,000 BTC. This increased considerably the following year, because the company amount surpassed 200,000 BTC.
The momentum, however, was temporarily interrupted because listed companies realized part of their Bitcoin stock, so that the threshold of 200,000 BTC almost lost. The accumulation movement was resumed in 2023 and increased sharply last year.
Rasmussen in particular pointed out that the amount would be “considerably smaller” if the stock of the strategy were to be excluded. The company, led by Michael Saylor, has more than 499,000 BTC in its treasury from March after adding 257,095 BTC last year via 16 purchases.
Rasmussen added that from 6 March, public companies had $ 52 billion in Bitcoin, equal to 3% of the total range of the flagship Crypto.
An overall jump
The amount of Bitcoin that was held by various institutional investors also saw considerable growth in 2024.
According to Bitcoin Treasuries, private companies, Exchange-Traded Products (ETP) managers, governments and listed companies held at the beginning of December 31, 2024 at the beginning of last year 2,802.135 BTC.
This jump is mainly attributed to governments and ETP managers. Governments started last year with 90,379 BTC in their safes, with the stock at the end of the year grew to 513,791 BTC.
In the meantime, Bitcoin climbed into the hands of asset managers to 1,289,031 BTC of 771,013 BTC in the same period, while Private companies divested their participations from 488,270 BTC on January 1, 2024 to 407.201 BTC towards the end of last year.
