FIFA makes a big leap to web3. On April 30, the world’s administrative body announced that it creates its own blockchain network to provide the official FIFA collection with electricity platformWhere fans can split NFTs with football theme and collecting objects with a limited edition. This new “FIFA-Blockchain” will replace the third networks that FIFA used in the past, and it will be home for all future digital assets and interactive fan experiences.
If you already like the FIFAs digital collective objects – or think to dive into – here is what you need to know about this transition.
The basis: what changes and when?
Starting no earlier than May 20, 2025, FIFA de FIFA starts migrating on its new blockchain. During that time, collecting FIFA will be about 12 hours offline, so that everything can move smoothly.
-
Good news: If you already own NFTs On FIFA Collect they will be automatically transferred without extra costs. You don’t have to do anything.
-
A catch: If you have exported one of your collective objects to an external wallet, you must move them back to the FIFA collection platform before 20 May to make sure they migrate. FIFA will temporarily reopen the “import” function. If you miss the deadline, you can eventually still transfer your items, but you may have to undergo extra steps with customer support.
Wallet upgrades (and changes)
The new blockchain of FIFA will be EVM (Ethereum virtual machine) compatible, opening the door to use popular portfolios such as Metamasker. On the other hand, portfolios that run on Algorand were no longer supported. If you are currently using it, you must switch to a compatible wallet before migration.

USDC Balance and State NFTs
If you have USDC (USD Coin) in your FIFA collection account, you can continue to spend it until migration. After that, every remaining balance can still be withdrawn, but you can no longer spend it on the platform.
All your collective objects offered for sale on FIFA collection? You are completely ready. Those offers will be automatically transferred to the new network, unless you choose to remove them before the move.
Why does FIFA do this?
According to FIFAThe new blockchain is designed to “support new experiences, to enable the wallet compatibility and to provide a stronger basis for future innovation.”
Building its own blockchain means that FIFA has more control over every aspect of its web3 -ecosystem. Instead of trusting external networks (such as Algorand or Polygon) To handle rules, updates or new functions, FIFA is in the driver’s seat. This could open the door for things like Gamified Collectric Objects and Blockchain-based ticketing.
Owning the entire infrastructure also gives FIFA a clear picture of how fans are fascinating – what they buy, how often they use the platform and where they spend money. This data can be a gold mine for partnerships and new types of fan experiences.
FIFA, however, still has something to explain about how the common web3 problems will tackle, such as security and user privacy. And because the organization has tried a few block chains in the past, this new movement indicates a dedication to stability in the longer term.
Last thought
For most collectors you wake up, the migration is done and all your NFTs will still be exactly where you have left them (unless you have to bring them from an external wallet).
But for FIFA it is a big shake-up behind the scenes and a statement about the dedication to web3.
