AI decentralized autonomous organization AI16Z has changed its name to Elizaos after concerning Tech -Risico capital company Andreessen Horowitz (A16Z) due to brand confusion.
Eliza Labs -founder Shaw Walters posted an update of the AI16Z Discord server on Sunday and positioned the change as a forward pivot.
“While we continue to expand in several countries, develop our core technology and promote an incredible community of builders, we implement an extensive rebranding initiative for Elizaos,” Walters wrote.
While Walters does not comment on the reason behind the name change, AI16Z Chris Dixon, Managing Partner at A16Z, said in an interview with Unchained Crypto the similarities between the two entities “created a little confusion.”
“I believe they are changing it,” Dixon said. “We asked them.”
AI16Z, launched in October 2024, is a decentralized autonomous organization that operates as a risk capital company run by autonomous AI agents. In January, Eliza Labs released the Elizaos, an open-source platform on the Solana blockchain designed for building and managing AI agents and simulations.
Walters has assigned the “rapid growth” of the project and broad technical acceptance to its contributors and announced plans to pursue important web2 and web3 partnerships.
Native token of the project falls by more than 22% to $ 0.56 and another 77% compared to its highest peak of 2 January of $ 2.47, Coingecko data shows.
In a separate interview with Unchained Crypto, Walters emphasized the expansion of Eliza Labs further than artificial intelligence to robotics.
“If LLMs are the brain, Eliza and similar frameworks are the body. It makes a connection with social media platforms and LLMs and runs completely out of the box, so you don’t have to trust OpenAi,” Walters said. “We focus by having it work on local hardware, telephones, adapted devices and soon, it will be a personal passion of mine.”
According to Walters, Eliza will remain the mascot of the DAO. The $ AI16Z -Ticker remains the same, with future changes that must be voted on by the community.
Walters has claimed that the DAO would not try to create more tokens, and the contract address and the roadmap would remain unchanged.
Representatives of A16Z and Elizaos did not immediately respond to requests for comments Decrypt.
