OGC 3D tiles support in X3D
Salinas, CA / Access to Newswire / 10 August 2025 / The Web3D Consortium is enthusiastic to announce that it has received a subsidy from Bentley Systems, recordedThrough that of the company Cesium -Ecosystem trade fair program. This subsidy will help to promote the support of Open Geospatial Consortium (OGC) 3D tiles in X3D formats to improve interoperability and to streamline the integration of industrial 3D large data sets in various applications.

This collaborative project Between Web3D Consortium members, the open geospatial ecosystem is expanding by supplying streaming industrial 3D geospatial data sets within X3D, an open source ISO standard, for displaying 3D scenes on the internet. This meets a crucial need for users of X3D and 3D Tiles, where OGC 3D tiles integrates content with X3D -Spatial Content.
The Cesium platform of Bentley is the leading open platform for software applications that are designed to unleash the power of 3D geospatial data. Bentley wants to promote the use of open standards, open APIs and open-source technologies to promote innovation and cooperation in the field. The Cesium Ecosystem Grants program helps the 3D-Gospatial Community to tackle common challenges and opportunities through open-source contributions, game-changing collaborations and educational progress. In particular, this subsidy will support the development of robust OGC 3D tiles support within X3D, which makes seamless access to high-quality, geospatial accurate 3D data possible.
“This subsidy is an important step forward for the Web3D -Consortium and the 3D community,” said Anita Havele, executive director, Web3D Consortium. “By supporting OGC 3D tiles in X3D, we open new ways for developers to use 3D -based data in their projects, leading to richer 3D user experiences”
In response, Dr. said Andreas Pelsch, Earthstruct LLC,
Bentley Systems chief platform officer chief platform officer, added: “Added:” “Ecosystem-expanding contributions such as 3D tiles in X3D tiles in X3D tiles in X3D consortium emphasizing the value of interoperationability. The connecting of these open standards enables developers who interactive 3D-vospatials. The connection of these open standards in X3D Tiles. The connecting of interoperation and interim-based.” Connecting these open standards makes the value of interoperation. “Connecting these open standards, connecting developers who” interacted interlorders who interacted interactive 3d-vospatialsialsialials. “
OGC -Integrate standards in X3dom(Open-Source X3D Viewer) will make access to a wide range of geospatial data sets easier and make it possible to make effective parts and visualization on different platforms possible.
The Web3D -Consortium invites all stakeholders to the Geospatial and 3D communities to go with us about this innovative project. We believe that cooperation will be of crucial importance to maximize the impact of this initiative and to promote the use of X3D and 3D tiles in real-World applications.
