Hamburg, Germany, 10 June 2025 (Globe Newswire) – ISC -NVidia announced today that the Jupiter super computer, powered by the NVIDIA Grace Hopper ™ platform, is the fastest in Europe-and-acceleration for high-performance computing and AI-Workloads delivers compared to the next fastest system.
Soon able to perform 1 Quintillion FP64 operations per second, Jupiter is on schedule to be Europe’s first exascal supercomputer. The system makes faster simulation, training and inference of the largest AI models possible – including climate modeling, quantum research, structural biology, computational engineering and astrophysics – that enables European companies and countries to stimulate scientific discovery and innovation.
Of the top five systems on the Top500 list of the world’s fastest supercomputers, Jupiter is the most energy -efficient, 60 giga flops per watt.
Consisting of almost 24,000 Nvidia GH200 Grace Hopper Superchips and interconnected to the Nvidia Quantum-2 Infiniband Network platform is expected to achieve more than 90 exaflops of AI performance and is based on Ovides Bull Sequana XH3000 liquid-cooled architecture.
Jupiter also records Nvidia’s full stacking of software for optimized performance.
“AI will overload scientific discovery and industrial innovation,” said Jensen Huang, founder and CEO of Nvidia. “In collaboration with Jülich and Ovides, we are building the most advanced AI -Supercomputer in Europe to enable the leading researchers, industries and institutions to expand human knowledge, accelerate breakthroughs and stimulate national progress.”
Built for scientific breakthroughs
Organized by the Jülich Supercomputing Center in the Forschungszentrum Jülich facility in Germany, Jupiter is the property of the Eurohpc Joint company.
“With the extreme performance of Jupiter, Europe has made a huge leap into the future of science, technology and sovereignty,” said Andersen, executive director of the Eurohpc joint venture. “Jupiter’s computer power will serve as a catalyst for scientific discovery, which proposes fundamental research on the continent in areas that are so diverse as climate modeling, energy systems and biomedical innovation.”
“Jupiter is a milestone for European science and technology,” said Thomas Lippert, Codirector of the Jülich Supercomputing Center. “Driven by Nvidia’s Accelerated Computing and AI platforms, Jupiter develops the boundary of foundation mode training and powerful simulation, allowing researchers throughout Europe to tackle challenges of unprecedented complexity.”
“Jupiter will considerably promote quantumalgorithm and the development of hardware,” added Kristel Michielsen, co -irector of the Jülich Supercomputing Center. “Hybrid Quantum HPC computation will benefit from powerful tools such as the NVIDIA CUDA-Q platform and the Nvidia Cuquantum Software Development Kit.”
“The launch of Jupiter is not only an extraordinary technical success of an exascal machine and the modular data center of Julich in less than nine months-it marks a crucial moment for European high-performance computing,” said Emmanuel Le Roux, senior vice-president at Evides, at-head of advanced computing, head of the head of Advanceding, Group. “It clearly demonstrated the technological leadership of the European obvious consortium, which designed, built and delivered this world-class system.”
Early Jupiter tests was performed with the Linpack -Benchmark, which was also used to determine the Top500 ranking.
The Jupiter super computer represents a new generation of computer systems, which unites the end-to-end software pestle of NVIDIA to resolve challenges in areas such as:
- Climate and weather modeling: Calls in high resolution, real -time environmental simulations and visualization, using the Nvidia Earth-2 Open platform. This contributes to global community initiatives such as the Earth Virtualization Engines project, which aims to create digital twins of the earth to better understand and tackle climate change.
- Quantum Computing Research: Promotes quantumalgorithm and hardware development with powerful tools such as the NVIDIA CUDA-Q™ platform and the Nvidia Cuquantum Software development kit.
- Computer -supported Engineering: Vent product design and production again via AI -driven simulation and digital twin technologies, powered by the Nvidia Physicsnemo™ Framework, Nvidia Cuda-X™ libraries and the Nvidia Omniverse™ Platform.
- Discovery: Streamlines the creation and use of AI models of vital importance for pharmaceutical research through the Nvidia Bionemo ™ Platform, accelerating from time to insight into biomolecular science and drug discovery.
