Decentralized exchange platform Kiloex revealed that it has reclaimed the entire $ 7.5 million in a recent exploit.
According to an April 18 rack:
“We are pleased to announce that we have a successful recovery of all stolen funds with regard to the recent security incident.”
The exploit was the first marked By cyters, a blockchain security outfit, on April 14.
According to the findings of the company, the infringement was reduced to a vulnerability in the Kiloex price oracle. The mistake enabled the attacker to manipulate prices across multiple chains, including BNB, Base and Taiko.
The wallet responsible for the exploit was reportedly funded via Tornado Cash, a popular crypto-mixing service that was often linked to the laundering of illegal funds.
Kiloex attacker receives 10% premium
The DEX platform had previously promised the attacker a reward of 10% if they chose to return the stolen funds.
With the funds fully recovered, Kiloex stated that it would comply with its promise and “grant 10% of the recovered amount as a premium to the white hat involved, which recognizes their contribution to improving the security of our platform.”
In the meantime, Kiloex also stated that it would not take legal action. Instead, the company praised the resolution of the incident as a step towards promoting stronger ties with the ethical hacking community.
It added:
“We give priority to long-term cooperation with the ethical security community and regard this resolution as a cornerstone for mutual trust … No further legal steps will be pursued. This issue will be considered in good faith.”
The attacker’s action marks a rare event in an industry that has lost around $ 2 billion to hacks and exploits this year.
