State Street and Citi consider offering crypto guardianship services. According to a report from the information, banks want to offer solutions for security solutions to institutional investors, traders and large funds.
A bank director told the report that State Street intends to roll out crypto guardianship services next year. The institution is one of the world’s largest guardianship benches for traditional assets such as shares and bonds.
In addition, the report states that BNY Mellon, who already offers guardianship services for Bitcoin (BTC) and Ethereum (ETH), wants to expand his offer with a wider range of tokens.
Traditional financial institutions are increasingly involved in crypto and this involvement is not limited to banks. Coinbase is reportedly also in discussions with banks with regard to crypto -trade and custody collaborations.
Citi is spreading to Crypto
Citi, the third largest American bank per assets, also investigates its access to the crypto custody space.
According to sources that are cited in the report, the bank giant is considering a double approach – develops his own guardianship services while they also forge partnerships with external companies.
